ReelShort is one of the apps that made "short dramas" a global habit. Instead of 45-minute episodes, every story is split into dozens of tiny vertical episodes — usually around a minute long — each ending on a cliffhanger that makes it very hard to stop at just one.
The stories are built for phones: shot in portrait mode, fast-paced and packed with twists. Popular titles lean towards romance, secret billionaires, revenge, werewolves and family drama. If you enjoy soap operas or K-drama tropes but only have a few minutes at a time, ReelShort is designed exactly for you.
In this guide we explain how ReelShort works, what is really free, how coins and VIP compare and the practical tips that help you get the most out of the app.

Key features of ReelShort
Vertical, phone-first episodes
Every series is filmed in portrait orientation, so you never need to rotate your phone. Swiping up takes you to the next episode instantly, which is why a "quick look" often turns into a full season.
Huge genre library
The catalogue covers romance, CEO and billionaire stories, revenge, mafia, fantasy, werewolves and family secrets. New titles are added constantly and the home feed highlights what is trending.
Free starter episodes
The opening episodes of most series are free so you can decide whether a story is worth following before you spend anything.
Daily rewards and check-ins
Opening the app daily, completing small tasks and watching optional rewarded ads can earn bonus coins that unlock extra episodes.
My List and watch history
Add series to your list and the app remembers exactly which episode you stopped at, so you can jump back into a story in one tap.
Subtitles and multiple languages
Many titles offer subtitles and dubbed versions, making the app usable even if English is not your first language.

Start on the "For You" or "Discover" feed. Use the genre tabs (Romance, Revenge, Werewolf, etc.) to narrow down, or search for a title you saw on social media.
Watch the free episodes
Tap a series and swipe up to move through episodes. The first set is free; a lock icon shows where coins are needed.
Unlock the next episode
When you hit a locked episode you can pay with coins, watch a rewarded ad (when offered) or use a VIP membership that unlocks everything.
Save it for later
Tap the bookmark / "Add to My List" icon so the series appears on your profile and you get update alerts.
5 pro tips for ReelShort
- Collect the daily check-in bonus every day — streaks usually give bigger rewards later in the week.
- Watch the free episodes of 3–4 series before spending coins, then commit to the one you enjoy most.
- Turn off auto-unlock in settings if you don't want coins spent automatically as you swipe.
- If you watch more than a couple of series a week, compare the weekly VIP price with what you spend on coins — VIP is often cheaper for heavy viewers.
- Download over Wi-Fi only (Settings) to save mobile data, since you'll watch many short clips.

Is ReelShort free? Pricing explained
ReelShort is free to download. Most series give you a block of free episodes, after which each episode costs a small number of coins. Coins are bought in packs inside the app, and bigger packs include bonus coins.
There is also a VIP subscription (weekly or longer plans depending on your region) that unlocks all episodes while it is active. Prices vary by country and change with promotions, so check the in-app store for the current offer before buying.
Is ReelShort safe and legal?
ReelShort is a legitimate app distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store. Payments go through the store's own billing, so you can manage or cancel subscriptions from your Play Store or Apple ID settings.
As with any app that sells coins, set a monthly budget and enable purchase authentication (password / fingerprint) on your store account, especially if children use your phone.
